Once upon a time, there were rules about how your story should be told.
The dragon was supposed to be slain.
The ugly duckling was supposed to suffer until it became a swan.
The side characters were supposed to stay quiet.
The misfits were supposed to know their place.
Your creative voice was supposed to fit inside someone else’s box.
But then something changed.
Ember the Dragon burned the script!
Once upon a time, in a tower far away, there lived a dragon named Ember.
Her role was simple: guard the tower, kidnap the princess, wait for the hero, and be slain. That’s what dragons do in fairy tales.
But Ember read ahead in her story.
She saw how it ended.
And she said, “Absolutely not!”
So she burned the script with her ruby fire. She told the princess she could leave whenever she wanted (the princess chose to stay and start a book club).
She sent the hero on his way with a scroll that said, “Find your own adventure.”
Then, she gathered every other character who was tired of their assigned role. The ugly ducklings who never wanted to be swans, the side characters who deserved their own stories, the “villains” who were just misunderstood, and the misfits who refused to fit.
Now, Ember leads the Fairy Tale Rebellion, and she’s looking for more characters willing to rewrite their stories.
